I bet you are probably one of many who heard this often growing up, right?
If not, you were lucky. I still encourage you to read on.
Let’s turn a new leaf and start raising our own children differently.
How about we change the way we answer our kids when they want something that requires money which we do not have or refuse to give.
For example:
Your son wants to have a new pair of brand-name, high-endurance, basket ball shoes.
“Dad, I really like a new pair of ‘brand-name’, basket ball shoes. They are the coolest and everyone has them. I want to have a pair too! If I don’t get a pair of them now, then Shawn’s going to kick my butt at basket ball and you know, I’m easily 10 times better than him at basket ball!”
Here are two ways of replying:
Dad replies with, “What do you think I’m made of? Money doesn’t grow on trees you know!“
Or
Dad replies with, “Well son, if those shoes mean this much to you and you truly feel that Shawn will have an unfair advantage over you in basket ball, then what is your plan of attack? How are you planning to buy those shoes? Can you think of anything that you can do, make, or a service you can provide, that will earn you the money so you can buy your own pair? If those shoes mean that much to you son, then you are going to have to come up with a good strategy to buy them yourself. I really believe you can do it. Please, let me know when you have an idea and we’ll see if we can work it out together. Good luck my son.”
In Dad’s first reply, dad shuts his son’s hopes down and ALSO teaches him, although unintentionally, that life is all about ’Scarcity’. Your son will learn from this negative reply that money is hard to come by; That it is difficult to get what you want in life; That other people will always have more than you. And the list goes on and on…
On the other hand in Dad’s second reply, you will tell that Dad is turning on the creative juices in his son’s mind, “okay, so I want these new basket ball shoes, how can I go about making the money to buy them myself?” And as well as getting his son’s creative juices flowing on some easy ways for kids to make money, Dad is also teaching some other incredibly valuable life lessons. Like: Abundance, Optimism and Faith in his son to find a way to fulfill his desire.
He is teaching him to be responsible for himself as well as encouraging him to come up with a plan of attack and then to work together on making that plan come to action. This simple lesson will diminish any thoughts of theft as an option.
So how are you talking to your own kids when it comes to money?
See if you pay attention to your answer, the next time your child asks you about money. Listen to your own reply and then meditate on it for a minute or two.
How did that answer come across to your child?
Was your child turned off of money, or was he or she encouraged to take responsibility to come up with a creative idea to attract their desired goods.
I hope this got you thinking about the way you talk to your children about money and possibly rethink the way you are teaching your children about money.
Fetal baby Doppler - how to listen to your unborn baby successfully
How does the Doppler work ? The Doppler listens to the reflections of small, high frequency sound waves that are reflected from within the womb. These sound waves are picked up by the probe and amplified through the hand held speaker so that you can hear them clearly. There are a variety of sounds that can be heard, including the fetal heart beat/tone, each of which is distinctive and so are easily identified. You can hear kicks and hiccups when your baby grows larger. Sounds can generally be heard from 10-12 weeks of your pregnancy.
Is the Doppler safe ?
All the Fetal Doppler’s available through reputable internet stores are the same, or use the same technology as the Doppler’s used by your midwife or doctor during your examinations throughout your pregnancy. Ultrasonic technology has been in use for many years without any side affects reported to the baby or the mother, do not confuse these with the large hospital ones.
Fetal Doppler's have an excellent safety record. They have been used daily for the last thirty years around the world. It is estimated around five million are in use every single day. No adverse effects to either mother or baby have ever been reported.
Please do not confuse Doppler’s with ultrasound scanners used in a hospital to show images of your baby. Our Doppler's use ultrasound in an extremely low power output. This is why they are run on a household battery alone.
What if I can’t find the heartbeat ?
Finding the heartbeat can be daunting at first as your baby may be lower than you expect. Make sure you have used a generous amount of coupling gel and position the probe low down on your abdomen. If you do not hear sounds when you begin keep moving the probe very slowly until you find a heartbeat, maybe test it on yours first. The fetal heart beat sounds like a galloping horse and is very fast at 120-160 beats per minute. If you still have difficulty then refer to the leaflet enclosed with your Doppler.
How can I tell I havent confused it with my own heartrate?
The sound of the fetal heartbeat is distinctive, but can often be confused with other sounds at first. You may well have heard it already during your antenatal appointments with your midwife or doctor. It is a regular fast beating sound, not to be confused with the swishing sound of the placenta.
- A roaring sound, like waves on a beach, is the sound of your placenta.
- A ‘whooshing’ noise is the sound of the blood supply to the placenta.
- Your own pulse! Don't forget that your baby's heartbeat is about twice as fast as this.
- A pulse that is more high-pitched than your baby’s heartbeat, but at the same speed. This is the pulse through the umbilical cord; a very pregnant and reassuring noise !
How many heartbeats per minute will I hear ?
The fetal heartbeat is much faster than your own and is usually between 120 and 160 beats per minute. Please remember the heartbeat will not remain constant, it will vary and depends on how active baby is. The readings from the Doppler should not be used for self-diagnosis as any interpretation is complicated and requires detailed medical training.
Will you need special creams or gels ?
The probe on your fetal doppler needs a dense liquid to pick up the sound waves from the womb. The coupling gel that is provided with your Doppler is to be used to ensure the high quality and clarity of the sounds you can hear.
Doppler Tips
- A very easy way to find the heartbeat is to take your Doppler with you to your next prenatal appointment. Your OB or midwife can help you locate your baby's heartbeat and provide you with helpful doppler tips.
- A full bladder may help, especially in early pregnancy.
- Early in pregnancy, start your fetal doppler in line with the belly button right above the pubic hair. As pregnancy progresses, your fetal doppler will find the heartbeat higher up the abdomen. - Move the doppler slowy is it easy to miss the heartbeat. Also, if you move the probe too fast it may cause interference noise.
- Tilt the doppler probe downward toward the pubic bone.
Always use lots of gel. If you run out of ultrasound gel you can get it online, amazon sell it.
- The baby is normally positioned far deeper in the pelvis than you would imagine.
It is important to not panic if you cant find the heartbeat straight away, during somedays it will be quick and other days baby may be somewhere difficult to find.

Alcohol consumption whilst pregnant may cause a big risk to your baby’s health. The Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) impacts one in 100 infants, resulting in restricted growth and heart failure.
FASD is the general term for a range of mental, physical and behavioral problems related to consuming alcohol throughout pregnancy, inclusive of Fetal Alcohol Syndrome. One drink is unlikely to result in FASD; however, no one knows how much alcohol results in this disorder. To prevent confusion over what might be safe, most experts warn pregnant women not to drink at all. There are a lot of ways of alcohol drug testing if you think someone you know is drinking whilst pregnant.
Kids with FASD often appear to be normal however their behaviour is often different to children without any disorders; they sometimes are slower to fathom things, stuff they learn is not stored for long (they aren’t processed into the long term memory), they have sudden mood swings and find social situations difficult.
There are a few physical indications of FASD which includes smaller and wide-set eyes, a thin upper lip and no groove between the nose and lip. however, many don’t, which is an explanation as to why their behaviour is often misinterpreted well into adulthood.
Drinking when pregnant is unrecommedable and is even seen by some people as child abuse. If you are having trouble stopping drinking alcohol while pregnant, you need to go and see a specialist to help you to stop drinking.
Many individuals with the disorder manage to adapt to social situations and can function well in some jobs, including some trades.
In conclusion, if in doubt about how much you should drink when pregnant don’t drink at all, if you find you can’t stop drinking seek proffesional help for the sake of your baby.
A stroller is one form of baby transport. A device that is used to hold an infant or even a small kid is called baby transport. Baby transport comes in different forms. There are different devices which are used differently for the same purpose. There is the hip or soft front carrier that is used to carry the babies. Slings and backpack carriers too are available to carry babies. Baby carriage, perambulator and pram are the popular terms with which these devices are known by. With prams, the baby is placed stretched out facing the pusher. But the stroller is different from pram in many ways. The main difference is that the prams are used to carry babies while strollers are meant for small children up to the age of four. These children sit down facing away from the pusher unlike the pram where the child faces the pusher.
William Henry Richardson who was an African-American was the first person to design the reversible stroller. He patented it in 1889. The design had a number of innovative features that radically transformed the stroller. The child could now sit either facing the pusher or facing away from the pusher. This reversal is carried out by turning the bassinet around completely. There is a special joint used to reverse the bassinet from its earlier position. With this, the child sitting facing you can be made to sit facing away from you. Until then, the solid axels permitted the front wheels to move together in the same direction. Likewise the back wheels too moved together. This was changed with the introduction of the concept of each wheel being independent of the other in terms of movements. Each wheel could move freely and independent of the other wheel. What this innovation introduced was to increase the maneuverability and the ability of the baby transport to turn with great ease. You now need only a small radius to turn the pram or the stroller a full 360 degrees. You could now turn the carriage within a very small space.
There are many designs in which Strollers come for sale. The seats are designed for more comfort and are soft, much to the delight of the children. You can carry along with you drinks and snacks in the pouch and tray. Graco LiteRider stroller has a design that includes swivel wheels with locks, cupholders and tray, a 3-point harness with fabric crotch strap and a 2-position reclining seat. The graco lite rider stroller is an example where the design has become more user-friendly.
Carrying your child along with you is now very easy with the handy stroller. Many dealers offer you a variety of strollers with different features, shapes and styles for you to choose from. You can view more details in the many websites that offer strollers for sale. You can also buy them online.
There are many things to consider when protecting children online. You are probably aware of the huge popularity of social networking sites, especially among young people, where information can be posted and friends can be made, along with other typical “social networking” actions. Unfortunately online predators are abusing these social networking sites where people go to find companionship and friends.
You may not know that you are at risk of being hurt or abducted. Especially as more people view your details online, the danger grows. A lot of people are coming to the conclusion that they shouldn’t be hanging around these social networking sites. It’s not that social networking is a bad thing, but security has to be a major concern.
There are some monitors on these sites but not at all times. There’s no guarantee about what type of person you may encounter on a social networking site. This is because online predators are always trying to engage other people so that they will develop confidence in them, but they end up abusing that relationship once they are accepted.
Online predators are present where millions of people, including young adults and children, are using social networking sites to communicate and meet friends. But it’s a real problem when so many online predators and pedophiles are present. You and your child should not have your profiles readily visible.
Real names, addresses or ages are all pieces of information you would never give to strangers, so don’t do it online. You will have to get familiar with the facts to protect your children (or child) and prevent online predators from continuing. One social networking site has an application to set a file to “private” and that’s the best choice for your child if he or she is using social networking sites and you want to reduce the risk from online predators.
With the option of privacy, you can share information exclusively with friends and family members. Be aware of the information you give at the time you register. You want to really protect your privacy. See what your children are giving as details on their profiles. With responsible monitoring, you can be sure of more safety. In fact, it may also be a good idea to think about choosing a pet for kids.
Every parent awaits in anticipation to see their child walk and talk. Before your child gets prepared for any action, his body has to get developed for that particular action. The development within babies varies due to many external factors.
Nutrition plays a vital role in development. Sleep is the maximum growth period. Realize that new born babies sleep almost all day. Duration of sleep varies with age. Your baby is always growing so at this age take care of what you feed. When he reaches one year, he will begin to pick things up, try getting into a standing position, feed himself and clap his hands. His muscles also increase day by day.
Feed your baby with a more nutritious food for maximum growth spurts. A malnourished baby does not develop soon. At the time your baby reaches 13 to 15 months, he will play with his toys and try to talk. You will also see that he walks without support. Some babies walk within 6 months but this is very unusual. Toys also help your baby to develop soon. Like if you play a bosendorfer grand piano, your baby will move his body and try to dance with the rhythm. At about 18 to 20 months, he will climb stairs and walk with support. At this age he will play with building blocks and feed himself well. He will also like cartoons and watch television. Your baby will talk unclearly and do a lot of mischief.
By the time your baby reaches his second birthday, he will get more naughtier and mess about everything. So, this is the time when you have to be careful and maintain safety precautions at home. Know that every child is different. At this time your baby will dump and fall into everything and hurt himself too often. By this if his head is hurt there are chances of internal injury which might last too longer and damage the brain.
Many sweet memories are associated with these development stages so enjoy it as much as you can.
Most will agree that children are a great blessing. However, some couples are unable to conceive. Still other couples elect not to go through the birthing process and instead turn to child adoption as their method for having a family. They believe that helping children already in this world is more important than bringing forth a new life. They are to be commended for their work towards giving children who have been abandoned or orphaned, a chance to have a real family, and a life filled with love and hope.
The adoptive family unit has garnered a huge amount of media attention in the past year. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s adoption of two children, each from different countries, has fueled a surge in popularity and awareness for the plight of orphaned and abandoned children. Madonna was another superstar looking to adopt a child in need of a family. Though this seems to be a trend in Hollywood, adoptions have been occurring for thousands of years.
Unfortunately there is no such thing as free adoptions. They take time and money, and often adoptions cost more than the average couple is able to spend. No one is making money on the exchange happening during a child adoption, but there are expenses such as traveling, especially if it is to a foreign country. There are fees for the paperwork to be paid to the adoption agency, as well as the cost for a lawyer.
State adoptions are fairly common for the average infertile couple because it usually allows them to be foster parents first. Some families regularly foster children whom they later fully embrace though foster care adoptions. This is a true blessing for those children who may have been abused or who have physical handicaps. It takes a special person to be a foster parent, and those children lucky enough to be placed with them are truly grateful. The foster parents looking to adopt their foster child believe they are the ones most grateful for the child or children who have come into their lives.
Hopefully, the world will continue to see child adoption numbers rise. There are far more children in the system than there are homes for them, at this point. With growing awareness about the plight of these children, many people are stepping forward to open their hearts, lives and homes to abandoned, orphaned or abused children. Each child placed in a loving home is one more star on the humanity walk of fame.

Acid reflux and symptoms of heartburn can be pretty common in women when they are pregnant. There are different reasons as to why this happens. However steps can be taken to relieve the symptoms of acid reflux during pregnancy
One of the reason’s behind the appearance of acid reflux and heartburn in pregnant women is due to hormonal changes that take place. Ligaments which keep the LES functioning properly tend to soften during pregnancy. This allows stomach acid and food segments to leak into the esophagus.
Another reason as to why heartburn and reflux is more common when a woman is pregnant is due to the growth of the baby. There is more pressure on the stomach as the baby continues to grow. The pressure on the stomach forces the contents of the stomach to leak into the esophagus.
It may be taken as a matter of fact that acid reflux or heartburn is a foregone conclusion for expectant mothers. There are things that can be done that decrease the levels of acid while in pregnancy.
There are certain types of food that can lead to the onset of acid reflux. By curbing these foods or cutting them out completely a woman can substantially reduce the risks of severe reflux. The risks of acid reflux are increased by the consumption of foods which are high in fat, have been fried, and foods that are spicy.
The amount of food that is eaten plays a significant role in increases of heartburn symptoms. It is common for acid reflux to develop after eating a large meal. The larger the meal that is eaten, the higher the levels of acid the stomach will produce to break the food down. Eating smaller but more often is kinder to your stomach and your general well being.
Try not to eat a few hours before turniing in for the night. Otherwise the stomach will continue to hold acid as you sleep. Because you may be in a horizontal position while you sleep, it is easier for the acid to spill into the esophagus. Also try to make sure that your shoulders and head are in an elevated position as you sleep. This prevents the acid from entering the throat.
The more pressure that your stomach comes under during pregnancy the higher the risks of acid reflux symptoms. Avoid wearing clothes that squeeze your waist area. Always focus on keeping a good posture. Make sure that the knees are always bent when reaching to the floor.
Nobody likes to suffer from the symptoms of heartburn and acid reflux. It makes it harder for women who are expecting a baby, especially with everything else going on. By following the above advice you can make a dramatic difference as to how bad acid reflux gets while you are pregnant. For more information read the Heartburn No More Review.
Women love ways of guessing what gender their baby will be. A fun way to learn of your baby’s gender is with the Chinese Conception Chart. It is an ancient chart believed to have been found in a royal tomb over 700 years ago. Now, the chart is said to be on display at the Beijing Institute of Science in China.
The chart is not completely accurate. The method of determining gender uses the woman’s age and month of conception. The most accurate results use lunar months instead of the regular months. These months run about 29 days.
When the chart is broken down into age and conception month, you get an idea just about what you will be having anyway. That is if you are taking the chart seriously. The age range on the chart is 18 to 45. The best ages to be more likely to pop out a girl according to the chart are 21, 22, 30, 31, 32, 34. The second best ages are 19, 24, and 33. The best ages to have a boy are 18, 20, 23, 26, 31, and 43. The second best ages are 25, 27, 36, 37, 41, and 44. If you are 28, 29, 35, 40, 42, or 45, there is a 50% chance of having a boy or girl.
The conception months on the chart are not as diverse as the ages, but there are some odds to take into account. The odds of having a boy are 3 to 4 in January, February, May and October, and an outstanding 9 to 19 in July. The odds are 15 to 13 of having a girl in June, August, September, and November, and 3 to 4 in April. In March and December you have the same chance of having a boy as you do of having a girl.
It varies month to month and age to age, but the chart is not a science. This was most likely devised by Chinese people to make certain months and ages look better for having boys. Either way though, it is a fifty-fifty chance of having a boy or girl.
When using the Chinese conception chart, it is good to remember that it is all in good fun. It is an entertaining way to get a guess at your baby’s gender. Sometimes the chart proves true, but it is not 100% accurate and in no way scientific. So, use this chart for a bit of entertaining, but not for getting your hopes up about how to design your baby room.
